Safety and Santation (Week 5) 10/03/16 - 10/07/16

I hope everyone is having a great week!

This weeks assignment is personal, and I am very excited!

Go into your fridge and look at how everything is organized. Is it in the proper place to prevent contamination. Explain where everything is in your fridge in your post, as well as what should be moved to make it safer. Are their any expired items you should be worried about? What illness are you at risk of contracting with the food items in your fridge out of arrangement? Looking forward to hearing from you all!

  1. Everything is where its supposed to be inside of my refrigerator. Nothing seems to be out of place or expired. All of the unopened condiments are placed inside of the cabinets. All opened condiments are placed in the door of the refrigerator. The meats are inside of the freezer, as usual. Everything seems to be in order and nothing is out of place.

  2. My fridge has a mix match between having foods in the right spot & not having foods in the right spot. The vegetables & fruits should be at the top shelf because it is ready-to-eat foods. The juices & milk is on the second shelf. All the meats are in the freezer section. When the meats have to thaw they go on the third shelf. The eggs are on the fourth shelf, where they should be. All food & drinks are updated nothing is expired in my fridge. Block : 3/4

  6. My refrigerator is clean because mom just cleaned it recently. every thing is now in the proper place the condiments are in the door shelves, the juice and Kool-Aid is on the top shelf, the left overs are on the 2nd and 3th shelf, the ham and cheese in the first drawer, vegetables in the second drawer and fruits in the last drawer. I don't think we should move any thing because space is limited but if I could I would put the left overs at the bottom. I don't think any thing is spoiled today is trash day so we already put it in the trash. This is HENDRY CENTENO FROM BELL-1

  7. Everything in my fridge is organized and in place as should be. All fruits, especially those in a can, are on the top shelf. The milk, juices, and soda are on the second shelf and the shelled eggs are on the third shelf along with the butter. In addition, all the condiments are placed on the door of the refrigerator. I believe nothing is out of place and should not be moved considering they are still fresh and edible to eat. No food items are expired, therefore my family and I are at no risk for any food borne illnesses.

  8. Everything in my fridge is pretty organized. I have my milk and coffee jug on the top left shelf, juice and water on the second shelf to the right and to the left of it is eggs. On the second shelf drawer is our deli meats and cheese for when we make sandwiches. On our bottom shelf is an unopened salami that we recently bought, and leftover dinner from one night ago. (pasta) In our bottom drawers (to the right) is Pillsbury Biscuits, and shredded cheese. In our other drawer (to the left) is our fruits and vegetables. And of course on the side of the fridge is our condiments. I don't think that anything in our fridge should be moved. I think my fridge is safely organized for our foods. None of the items in my fridge are contaminated, nor expired. Me and my family are in no danger of being harmed.

  9. My refrigerator is mostly organized according to food health codes. Vegetables and fruits are located in separated bins where they are out of contact with anything else such as dry goods that need to be refrigerated or any meats. The top shelf contains boxes of instant rice and mashed potatoes, milk, and containers of various juices, and bottle of water and cans of soda pop. The next shelf down is where we keep our eggs, cheeses, and deli meats. The last shelf is where we keep leftover items that are securely wrapped in a layer of plastic wrap and then a layer of aluminum foil. On the door of the refrigerator is where we keep our condiments and other small items that fit in the compartments. In our freezer, is where we keep our meets and cold items. I feel that none of the items in our refrigerator or freezer will become contaminated from one another due to placement.

  10. I like my fridge. we have a lot of drinks and food to eat. but the butter isn't always in the dairy spot. I sometime put it on any shelf but I will learn. but the milk is cold so that's good and all my fruit... but the only thing wrong is that my ppl put the bread in the freezer and not on the kitchen counter. ...RENO COLORADO ... 11. In my fridge I have eggs they are located at the bottom of the fridge just in case the eggs crack. in the side shelves we have juice Sunny D its expires in 10/29/16. The one item that is about to expire is the milk and it expires in 2 days , I would get risk of getting sick , everything else is where its suppose to be the meats are in the freezer with the hotpockets and chicken nuggets.

  12. My refrigerator has an area specific for fruits, vegetables, and deli. There is also room where we put leftovers and drinks and other things that are needed to be refrigerated. The dressings and condiments are in their own area and nothing is expired since we check this daily to weekly. We actually just today cleaned it out. Everything is sealed and placed in containers where there is no way for the food to be contaminated or ourselves to be.

  13. In my refrigerator everything is in the proper place. All the meats are in the freezer but when they need to thaw they are in the last shelf. Fruits and vegetables are in separate drawers. There is leftover food but it's sealed. Condiments have there own compartment away from the food. Nothing is contaminated and we won't get sick.

  14. Hey chef! When I looked in my fridge I was not really shocked at how much stuff was out of place. For starter we had the eggs on the top shelf. The chicken was on the middle shelf. And we had used flour in the door. The lettuce was on the last rack. When I rearranged everting with my parents were surprised because what I was saying actually made since (I learned from the best). We went in and changed stuff to the right place. We put the eggs and chicken on the bottom shelf. The lettuce wen on the top shelf because it is a ready to eat food. Finally, we threw out the old flour. The food borne illness we could have gotten was non-typhoid salmonella due to the fact that the eggs could have leaked through the container on to something else also from the old flour that was used to fry chicken.

  15. Everything in my fridge is organized. I have my milk, juice, soda, and water on top right shelf. Eggs, butter container, and yogurt on the left side shelf. On the second shelf drawer is our lunch meats and cheese for when we make sandwiches. On our second shelf is left over spaghetti, and brownies from last nights dinner. Our last shelf would be our sugar, and flour. Our bottom drawer on the right is our fruits. In our other drawer in the left is vegetables. On the side of the fridge is our condiments. I don't think that anything in our fridge should be moved. I think my fridge is safely organized. None of the items in my fridge are contaminated, or expired. I put my water, soda, ketchup and mustard top of the fridge. And my fruits and vegetable is on the bottom of my fridge. Everything is organized now.

  17. In my fridge, there is not much yet but there is 4 layers inside my fridge. On top, there's things like peanut butter, syrup, and my mom's rice and native stew. The 2nd layer has eggs, milk, eggs, cheese and more of the native food. The 3rd has leftovers. The 4th is the pantry drawer which mostly contains water. I don't think I should reorganize the refrigerator because my family would be upset with me but I know that that it will be in different arrangements.

  18. My mom just recently cleaned out the fridge. We threw out all the expired stuff. The milk and juice is not the side of the door. If anything is out of arrangement it could leak on to another food and make you sick. If that happens you should clean the mess and throw out the food if it was open.

  20. My refrigerator is pretty organized right now. My first shelf has the milk and the kool-aid and water bottles. On my second shelf is my breakfast things like eggs, bacon, etc. My third shelf has my fruits and any left over foods. In my first drawer are lunch meat, cheese, and little packets that you would get from a fast food place. My second drawer has the vegetables like tomatoes, squash, celery, etc. My last drawer has used flour and chicken and fish batter in baggies. Lastly, in the door of my refrigerator is the ketchup and mustard bottle also the salad dressings, lemon juice, mayonnaise, sofrito, yogurts, baking soda and butter all the way at the top. Nothing in my fridge is expired. I am at risk for bacteria spreading if one of the eggs crack because it could leak on all the food that is below it and temperature danger from the leftovers.

  23. Hey Chef! After learning about how and where things should be placed in a fridge I was surprised when I went home and realized how put of place everything were. In my house our fruits and vegetables were not in the ready to eat place instead it was where the poultry was place. Instead of putting our meats in the fridge we put store them in a freezer. Our leftovers are placed in a separate bowl and is reheated when getting ready to eat. On our very first shelf we have mine and other liquids, on the second shelf we have milk, juices and leftovers from the previous night on the the other shelves we had our fruits and vegetables there. Eggs were at the top of my fridge where it shouldn't be. If foods aren't properly placed in the right are of the fridge it would be risk of E.coli etc. Other than that nothing is expired.

  24. Everything in my refrigerator is organized properly. The very top shelf contains all of our beverages and such. There is a drawer that pulls out from underneath that shelf and it contains our lunch meat and cheese for when we feel like having sandwiches. The second shelf in our fridge has our leftovers which our securely wrapped in either plastic or aluminum foil. The bottom shelf doesn't really have much on it but the two drawers on the bottom includes our veggies in the left one and our fruits in the right. On the door is all of the condiments and sauces. Nothing is expired because ive checked them all so we aren't at any risk of getting any kind of illness. Block 1 (Intro)

  26. All of my ready-to-eat foods are in my refrigerator. I have drinks on the very first shelf while jelly, cream cheese and eggs are on the next. On the third shelf I have my fruits, margarine, and some pickles. On the last shelf is some leftover foods. In the cabinets at the bottom of my refrigerator are my vegetables and a tub of sauce packets. In my freezer are my meats. At the bottom there are some packs of chicken and on top of the chicken are a few packs of ground beef. On top of the ground beef there are a couple of packs of pork chops and some bags of frozen fish at the very top. With this being said, the only problem is that my eggs should be at the very bottom of my refrigerator instead of the top in case one of the eggs break and leak on the other foods. If one of the eggs would break, I would have the risk of catching salmonella. Other than my eggs being out of place, everything else in my refrigerator and freezer are in the correct order. All of my food is up to date and safe to eat.

  27. My fridge is all kinds of wrong . The eggs are on top and we have vegetables with packages of ground beef . However the poultry is at the bottom and most ready to eat food are at the top. I am at risk of contracting non typhoidal salmonella and possibly ecoli. The eggs should be at the bottom with the poultry and veggies at the top with the rte foods . Thats really nasty and im fixing it now.

  36. My fridge is not well organized. In the door of my refrigerator, we have all of our condiments. The bottom has leftover food from a restaurant. The middle row has Bacon ,Eggs, & Milk on it. The top has all the fruits and drinks. The freezer is full of frozen meats , French Fries, & Veggies. There are no expired foods because we just went grocery shopping not long ago. 51. My fridge is organized based on kind of food, but not in the correct order. The condiments are on the top shelf along with other ready to eat food, but the meats and chicken are on the second shelf instead of being separated with the chicken at the bottom. The eggs are on the shelf below that with produce and deli meats in the bottom. We recently got rid of some expired milk, deli ham, and old lettuce in the produce bin. Because the produce, which is usually eaten raw, is on the bottom, my family could contract salmonella, or e-coli.
